Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary Faces Criticism Over Remark on Viral Molestation Videos

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has drawn criticism over his remarks about viral videos showing alleged sexual assault and molestation incidents in the State. Speaking at a ‘Yuva Samvad’ (Youth Dialogue) programme in Rohtas on October 6, 2026, the Chief Minister said critics had been able to find only five such videos across Bihar.
“This is a changed Bihar, and let people form any perception. I tell my friends that they (critics) could only find 5 videos in all of Bihar,” Choudhary said, responding to criticism over the videos.
The comment triggered a reaction from the Opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), which criticised the Chief Minister’s framing of the issue. In a post on X, the party said: “If the CM has any shame, even one video should be enough!”
The exchange has brought renewed attention to the political debate over women’s safety, alleged sexual harassment and the way incidents involving women are discussed by public officials. The Chief Minister’s statement presented the number of videos identified by critics as evidence in support of his claim that Bihar has changed. The RJD, meanwhile, argued that even a single incident warrants serious attention.
The controversy highlights a wider question in public debate: how governments respond to reports of sexual violence and how such incidents are assessed. The number of videos circulating online, by itself, does not establish the total number of incidents or provide a complete picture of women’s safety across the State.
The remarks are likely to remain part of the political discussion between the ruling establishment and the Opposition in Bihar, particularly around law and order and the protection of women and girls.
“Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary sparked controversy after saying critics could find only five videos of sexual assault and molestation in the State. The Opposition RJD criticised the remark, arguing that even one such incident should be treated seriously.”
