Bihar MLC Election 2026: Lallan Singh Refuses to Mediate Between Anant Singh and Neeraj Kumar

Bihar MLC Election 2026: Lallan Singh Refuses to Mediate Anant Singh-Neeraj Kumar Dispute
The political dispute between JDU MLA Anant Singh and JDU leader Neeraj Kumar has taken another turn with Union Minister Lallan Singh declining to take an active role in resolving their differences.
The disagreement has surfaced prominently during the Bihar Legislative Council election campaign, particularly around the Patna Graduate constituency, where JDU has fielded Neeraj Kumar while Anant Singh has backed Jan Suraaj candidate Anuj Singh.
Lallan Singh said he does not normally interfere in disputes between other people. However, he indicated that he could help facilitate a compromise if both leaders were willing.
Lallan Singh Keeps Away From the Dispute
Lallan Singh addressed a gathering in Ghosheth, Lakhisarai, where he spoke about his approach to disputes without directly naming Anant Singh and Neeraj Kumar.
He said he does not get involved in fights or personal disputes and prefers to focus on development work.
Lallan Singh also gave an example from his own village, saying that disputes there had not necessarily been resolved through his intervention. His comments indicated that he was reluctant to take responsibility for settling the disagreement between the two JDU leaders.
At the same time, he left the door open for reconciliation if both sides genuinely wanted a settlement.
Sanjay Jha Had Indicated Mediation
The comments came after JDU National Executive President Sanjay Jha had indicated that Lallan Singh was looking into the matter.
According to the source report, Sanjay Jha had suggested that Lallan Singh was authorised by the party to speak with Anant Singh and Neeraj Kumar because the issue is connected with his Munger constituency.
The possibility of reconciliation had therefore emerged within the party. Lallan Singh’s latest remarks, however, suggest that he does not intend to force a settlement between the two leaders.
His position is that compromise is possible only when both sides are willing.
How the Anant Singh-Neeraj Dispute Started
The dispute has become particularly visible because of the ongoing Bihar MLC elections.
JDU has fielded Neeraj Kumar from the Patna Graduate constituency. Anant Singh, however, has publicly opposed the candidate and is supporting Jan Suraaj’s Anuj Singh.
Anant Singh has also made allegations against Neeraj Kumar in connection with the Assembly elections. These allegations are Anant Singh’s claims and are not established as facts in the source material.
The disagreement has therefore moved from an internal political issue to a visible electoral contest.
JDU’s Official Candidate Remains Neeraj Kumar
Despite Anant Singh’s position, the JDU organisation has continued to back Neeraj Kumar.
Nishant Kumar has publicly said that the party and its workers support Neeraj Kumar and should work for his victory.
This has made the situation more significant because the dispute is not simply between two individuals. It is playing out during an election in which party organisation and coordinated campaigning can directly influence the result.
MLC Election Adds Political Pressure
The Bihar Legislative Council election involves eight seats, including four Teachers’ constituencies and four Graduates’ constituencies.
Polling is scheduled for October 23, with counting on October 27.
The Patna Graduate seat has attracted particular attention because of the competing positions within the JDU camp and the entry of Jan Suraaj as a major challenger.
The party will have to manage the election campaign while dealing with the public disagreement involving Anant Singh.
What Happens Next?
Lallan Singh’s refusal to actively intervene leaves the possibility of reconciliation dependent largely on the willingness of Anant Singh and Neeraj Kumar themselves.
For JDU, the immediate focus remains the MLC election and the campaign for its official candidates.
For Jan Suraaj, Anant Singh’s support for Anuj Singh provides additional political visibility in the Patna Graduate contest.
The final outcome of the election will show whether the internal disagreement affects the performance of JDU’s candidate or whether the party organisation can successfully consolidate support behind Neeraj Kumar.
